Cement Tile Roof Restoration Process
With over 15 years experience in restoring iron, cement and terracotta roof tiles Powerclean has developed a detailed seven stage restoration process. Leaving your old tired roof looking like new at a fraction of the replacement cost. With over 32 available colours and a 10 year Dulux manufacturers guarantee you can rest assured your roof has been restored to the highest possible standard.
Stage 1
Replace all broken, cracked, chipped and defective tiles.
Stage 2
High pressure clean your complete roof and ridge caps, with a final rinse of your roof, gutters and premises.
Stage 3
Rebedding of your ridge caps. This is where the caps are lifted, your old cement fully removed and a new bed of sand and cement laid.
Stage 4
Repointing. This is where a second layer of flexible pointing compound is applied by trowel over the bed of sand and cement.
Stage 5
Sterilization. A fungicide is applied to the roof tiles to kill any remaining spores within the tiles and prevent any future moss and lichen growth.
Stage 6
Sealing. Depending on the age and condition of the roof tiles either a water based primer or enamel sealer is sprayed onto the tiles, in preparation for the membrane.
Stage 7
Coating. 2 coats of Tileflex 2000 roofing membrane are applied to finish the restoration process. This leaves the old porous tiles waterproof and looking like new.
Power Clean Roof Restoration
Stage 1
The only visible difference between a new tiled roof and a restored roof is that the pointing on a restored roof is coated over using the same coloured membrane that is applied to the tiles. While this has benefits in sealing the pointing and protecting it from the elements some people have suggested it may look a little artificial.
Stage 2
On a new roof the flexible pointing compound is of similar colour to the tiles but a slight variation in texture, finish and gloss level give a breaking contrast between the pointing and tiles.
Stage 3
By repointing the roof last and replicating that of the new roof Power Clean can provide a quality restoration while maintaining the contrast in colour that can only usually be achieved by installing a new roof.
Stage 4
We also provide the flexibility to create your personal desired colour schemes. Two toned options where the ridgecaps are a completely different colour can be installed or restored which is particularly popular with a federation style look.
Stage 5
We have also restored cement tiles to replicate that of an old style classic terracotta roof. We have installed finials and saddles as seen here on this cement tiled roof restored with a classic red pointing to highlight the contrast of the terracotta ridgecaps.
